Clothing for family portraits

Clothing selections are an important consideration when there will be more than one subject.  It is best to choose garments that are all in the same tones.  Mixing light and dark colors is distracting and  the lightest and brightest will stand out from the rest of the group.  Also avoid vivid patterns which will dominate the photograph and take focus away from faces.  Choosing simple clothing in the same tones will create a more timeless portrait of togetherness.
